Oracle Employee Self Service Training Guide-Managing Absences

In this article we will discuss how to manage absences in Oracle.

1. Upon logging in, choose Time and Absences from the app grid. This is the first step for all of the functions listed below.

Viewing Your Absence Balance

Your absence balance will show you how much time you have remaining for Sick, Vacation, and Personal time. The available options in this section will depend on your role within Wagner. 

1. To view your balance click Absence Balance

2. You will see an overview of all of your categorized plan balances and the time that is remaining. 

3. To look at further details about a particular plan balance, simply click on the link for that plan. In this example we will use Vacation. 

4. Choose the date that applies to what you are looking for. In this case, we would like to see more information about the time we've taken as of the current date. 

5. Notice my plan balance in the upper right corner that will tell me the total amount of time I have in that particular category remaining for me to take action on. 

6. In the Summary section, the accruals will show me how time much I started with at the beginning of the year along with my total balance. 

7. For specific information about requested leave in this category, you can expand the Details section to search the drop down menu for exactly what you are looking for. 

How to Add an Absence

1. Click Add Absence

2. From the Type drop down menu, choose the type of absence you are looking to record. In this example, we will use vacation.

3. Enter the Start and End Date of this absence in their respective drop down menus, along with the duration in the text box.

4. If you want to add any additional comments, you can do so in the Comments and Attachments section. 

5. Once you are finished recording your absence, click Submit at the top right of the page. This will send your request for approval to the the assigned Line Manager. 

 

 

How to View Your Existing Absences

1. Choose View Existing Absences

2. From here you can see all of the absences that you have requested according to the date that you specify in the drop down menu. 

3. You will also be able to see the status of your requests. In this example, we can see that the status of the vacation we requested is Awaiting Approval. Once the Line Manager makes their decision for your request, that status will change to reflect that. 

4. If you wish to edit or delete your request you can do so by going into Existing Absences and clicking the pen in the upper right corner. From here you can make any changes you need to make, or delete the request by clicking Delete in the upper right corner.
