The Page feature in Moodle is very useful if you want to combine different kinds of media regarding one particular topic.
For example, if you are teaching a class about the human body, you might want to add an article about the importance of the food we put into our bodies, but at the same time, you have a very informative video on different changes a person can make to transition to a healthier diet easier. With the page feature, you can compile all of this information in one place so it is organized and easy to find. The participants would be able to read the article, and then go directly into watching the video. This allows for a more robust lesson and also keeps all of the coordinating information together.
Watch the following video for a walk through on how to properly utilize this feature:
1. The first step is to navigate to the upper right hand corner of your page and turn your editing on by toggling the Edit mode switch.
2. Navigate to the week or topic that you would like to add the file. Press Add an Activity or Resource.
3. From the Activity Chooser, select Page
4. Give your page a title in the Name box.
5. The information that you would like displayed on your page will go in the Page Content section. You can use all different kinds of media. In this example, we will use an image, text, a hyper link, and a YouTube video.
The first example here is an image that I have added to my page. To add an image, select the portrait on your HTML editor.
Click Browse Repositories and search your hard drive for the picture you would like to display.
Once you select your image, make sure to add a description for the image for those who cannot see it.
Press Save Image.
Next we will add some text. This is the simplest process out of all of our examples because all you need to do is either type your text or copy and paste what you would like it to say.
As the next component for our page, I want to include a hyper link. I made sure that I have copied the link that I would like to share so all I need to do is paste it when the time comes. To add a hyper link, click the link button on your HTML editor.
Paste your URL in the Enter a URL textbox. As always, make sure there isn't any dead space between the beginning of your link and the text box. In the Text to Display, write what text you would like your students to see when they view this link. If you leave it blank, it will just show up as the link itself. Press Create Link
The last component to our Page is a YouTube video that will show directly on the page. The first thing I like to do is have my share link copied and ready to paste.
From the HTML editor choose the video button. This is right next to the portrait button. If you need to expand your HTML editor, press the downward arrow in the upper left corner of your text box.
In the Source URL box, paste the YouTube link in the text box. As always, make sure there isn't any dead space between the beginning of your link and the text box. Press Insert Media.
The video is going to show up as a link, but once you save it and view it on the page itself, it will display the video.
Here is the full view of our final page with all of the components add to it:
