Moodle 4.0: How to Use the URL Resource

This article will walk you through how to add a URL on to your Moodle page. This feature is useful if you would like to share an alternative, easy to access, website with your students for them to visit.

To watch a step by step video tutorial of this feature, please watch the YouTube video below:

1. The first step is to navigate to the upper right hand corner of your page and turn your editing on by toggling the Edit mode switch.

2. Navigate to the week or topic that you would like to add the file. Press Add an Activity or Resource

3. From the Activity Chooser, select URL

4. Add a title for your item into the Name box.

In the External URL box, type or paste the URL that you would like to share.

Important: If you are copying and pasting the URL, make sure to check that there is no dead space between the text box and the beginning of your link. If there is, the link will be broken and will not work successfully.

5. Press Save and Return to Course.

6. Your URL link should be accessible now from your Moodle page. When you click it, it will look like this:

7. Once you click the link, it should take you to the website. Please note, this will take you off of Moodle's website. To get back to your Moodle page, you can use the back button.
