Moodle 4.0: Adding a Label

This article will walk you through how to set up a Label in Moodle 4.0. Labels allow you to add information like organizational labels, videos, images etc directly into your page.

We will go over how to use this feature to organize the items on your Moodle page so that students can easily access them.

For a detailed tutorial on this feature, please check out the following YouTube video:

1. The first step is to navigate to the upper right hand corner of your page and turn your editing on by toggling the Edit mode switch.

2.  Navigate to the week or topic that you would like to add the label. Press Add an Activity or Resource

3. From the Activity Chooser, select Label

4. In the text box, write the name of the label that you would like displayed on your page. In this example, we are going to make labels for all of the different kinds of items we have on our page. Files, Photos, Power Point Presentations, and Assignments. The following screen shot will show an example of one of these label names, but the process will remain the same for the rest.

5. You can expand your HTML editor as well for extra options to customize your text by pressing the downward arrow. I chose to Bold mine and change the Paragraph Style. Make sure to press Save and Return to Course when you are finished.

6. Once you have created your labels, you can move the items on your page under their corresponding heading. You can easily do this by grabbing the item you want to move and dropping it where you want it to appear on the page. You can also move items up or down using your Course Index. Editing mode must be toggled on to move items.
