The Dashboard is the easiest way to filter courses on Moodle so you can access what you're looking for easily and quickly.
For a detailed tutorial video on how to utilize this feature, check out the following video. Otherwise continue reading this article for written instructions.
1. The Dashboard is accessible from the left hand side Navigation Menu upon logging in. If you do not see the Navigation menu, it may be collapsed. Simply expand the menu by clicking on the three horizontal lines at the top and you will see it as an option.
2. Once you click into the Dashboard, you will see the Course Overview drop down menu. This menu has all of the options that you need to use the dashboard.
3. The All (except removed from view,) option will show you all of the courses you are currently enrolled in (Past, Present, Future)
4. If you want to filter based on a certain semester, you can do so from this menu. The in progress option will show you all of the courses that you are enrolled in for the current semester. This also includes Persistent courses that you may be enrolled in.
5. If you want to see courses from a previous semester, you can filter by Past courses. Sometimes this section will include courses from a current semester if the course end date for that class has ended, so if you are not seeing a course in your in progress section and it is near the end of the semester, double check the past section just in case.
6. To view upcoming courses, you can filter by Future courses. These courses will show as long as they have been made available by the IT dept and Registrar.
6. You may find in some cases that you are enrolled in courses that you do not use often, but ones that you still need to be enrolled in. If you would like to remove those courses from view, you can find the course on the list, choose the three dots to the right of it, and select Remove from View from the menu. This will remove the course from your list so it isn't cluttering up your space, but it will still be accessible to you if you filter by Removed from View on the Course Overview drop down menu.
7. Similarly, you may find that there are certain courses that you access more than others so frequently that you want an easier way to access them. You can go about this by starring that particular course or courses, and then viewing them on the Starred menu from the Course Overview drop down menu. You can look at this option almost as a favorites menu. To star an item, click the three dots on the right hand side and choose Star this course.
8. You can also remove either of those items from removed from view or starred by following the same process, but just choosing to remove the course from that particular menu.
