Zoom cloud recording storage is limited and can be exhausted rather quickly given the amount of courses that have some level of Zoom meeting interaction. Fortunately, Zoom has an integration with Kaltura that allows for all recording to automatically import into Kaltura once the recording has processed in Zoom. The recordings will appear in the My Media section in Moodle. You can then share the recordings with any courses available to your account.
There is no additional setup required for faculty to use this integration. Please be advised of the following:
- Starting Monday August 31, 2020 all Zoom recordings will be copied into Kaltura once the video has finished processing in Zoom.
- Kaltura will retain the name of the Zoom recording when it is transferred in.
- Kaltura will not remove your recording from the Zoom cloud. Once you have confirmed that your Zoom recording is intact and plays correctly in My Media, we ask that you please delete the recording from Zoom.
- Zoom recordings will be automatically moved to the trash in Zoom after 30 days, and will be recoverable from the trash for an additional 30 days.
- Zoom, depending on the format of your meeting, may save a number files for your recording (example below). Please note all of these files will be transferred to My Media. You may need to play them individually to identify which version you would like to share with your specific Moodle course.
- All recordings will automatically have captions added to them. The captions are machine generated and will need to be verified for accuracy. Captions can be edited, hidden or completely removed. For a brief introduction to caption editing, watch the video starting at 04:16 below.
- Previously recorded Zoom meetings will not be automatically transferred to Kaltura. To import your previous meetings into Kaltura please watch the How to Import Zoom Meetings into Kaltura video below. Once you have confirmed that your Zoom recording is intact and plays correctly in My Media, we ask that you please delete the recording from Zoom.
